Market Live Updates: Sensex rallies 1,223 points, Nifty ends near 16,350 led by financials, IT stocks
Share/Stock Market Live Updates: The benchmark indices on BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) continued their recovery for the second consecutive day, rising over 2 per cent on Wednesday aided by a rally across sectors including banking, financials, information technology (IT), automobiles pharmaceuticals and aviation stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex climbed 1,223.24 points (2.29 per cent) to settle at 54,647.33 while the Nifty 50 gained 331.90 points (2.07 per cent) to end at 16,345.35. Both the indices had opened nearly 0.5 per cent higher earlier in the day and rose higher as the trade progressed. In the intraday, the BSE benchmark hit a high of 54,893.73 while the broader Nifty touched 16,418.05.
On the Sensex pack, Asian Paints was the top gainer on Wednesday, rising over 5.5 per cent. It was followed by Reliance Industries (RIL), Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Finserv. On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India, NTPC, Tata Steel and Nestle India were the laggards.
